‘Highly Exalted in this World and in the Next’

The Holy Qur’an and the Blessed Injeel both clearly teach that Hazrat Isa ( ع ) is given great honour both here and in the life to come.

When the angels said, “Mariam, Allah gives you good news of a word from him, whose name will be the Messiah, Isa son of Mariam, highly exalted in this world and the hereafter, and brought near [to Allah].”

Holy Qur’an | Ali ‘Imran 3:45

God exalted him to his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

Blessed Injeel | Acts 5:31

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.”

Blessed Injeel | Acts 4:12

Some thoughts

So the Bible and the Qur’an agree that Hazrat Isa ( ع ) is exalted in this world and in the world to come.

  • We see he is exalted in this world from his unique titles.
  • We know he is exalted in the world to come because he can speak on our behalf and is a witness on the day of resurrection.

The word وَجِيهًا  (here written as “highly exalted”) means the person between two parties. Such as the person between a king and a tribe he rules over.

The king would tell the person what he wants. That person would tell the tribe. When a tribe wants to send a message to the king, they would use this person to speak to the king.

The Holy Qur’an and the Blessed Injeel affirm that Hazrat Isa ( ع ) is highly exalted; the one between God and men.
