One day Hazrat Isa ( ع ) received some sad news. This is recorded in the Holy Injeel in Matthew 14:6-13.
King Herod had a birthday party. And the daughter of his wife danced in front of all the guests.
Herod was so pleased that he promised her, “I swear that I will give you anything you ask for!”
Her mother told her what to say. So the girl said, “Give me the head of Yahya on a plate. Now!”
The king was sad, but because of the promise he had made in front of all his guests he gave orders that her wish be granted.
Yahya was beheaded in the prison. The head was brought in on a plate and given to the girl, who took it to her mother.
Yahya’s disciples came, carried away his body, and buried it. Then they went and told Hazrat Isa ( ع ). (Yahya and Hazrat Isa were related.)
When Hazrat Isa ( ع ) heard the news about Yahya, he left there in a boat and went to a lonely place by himself.
