The frightened crowd

In the Blessed Injeel (Luke 7:11-17) there is a record of a visit Hazrat Isa ( ع ) made to a small village.

Hazrat Isa ( ع ) went with his disciples to the village of Nain, and a large crowd followed him.

As he came to the village gate a funeral procession was coming out. A young man had died. He was the only son of a widow and a large crowd from the village was with her.

When Hazrat Isa ( ع ) saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said.

Then he walked over to the coffin and touched it, and the bearers stopped. “Young man,” he said, “I tell you, get up.”

Then the dead boy sat up and began to talk! And Hazrat Isa ( ع ) gave him back to his mother.

Great fear swept the crowd and they praised God, saying, “A mighty prophet has risen among us,” and “God has visited his people today.”

And the news about him spread through the area.

His character is clearly revealed

Both the Holy Qur’an and the Blessed Injeel agree that Hazrat Isa ( ع ) made dead people come alive.

When Allah said, “Isa son of Mariam, remember my blessings to you and your mother: I aided you with the Holy Spirit so you spoke to the people in the cradle and as an adult; I taught you the book, wisdom, the Tawrat and the Injil; you create a clay bird by my permission, then you breathe into it and it becomes a bird by my permission; you heal the one born blind and the leper by my permission; you bring forth the dead by my permission; I kept the people of Israel from you when you brought them miracles and the disbelievers among them said: This is just magic;

Holy Qur’an | Al-Maida 5:110

Below is the record in the Injeel of another time Hazrat Isa ( ع ) made a dead person alive; this time it was Lazarus who had been dead for four days:

When he had said this, he shouted in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The one who had died came out, his feet and hands tied up with strips of cloth, and a cloth wrapped around his face. Hazrat Isa said to them, “Unwrap him and let him go.”

Some thoughts

As you know, when a widow loses her ONLY son she is in great difficulty and much shame. Hazrat Isa ( ع ) was quick to help this widow. Would he rescue anyone if they were suddenly overcome by difficulty and shame?
